Thermostat Range
Design:Northwest Energy® offers a complete line of precision thermostats designed for Electric Heating Cable. They are elegantly styled and are manufactured by OJ Elektronik® and can be used for hot water radiant heating systems. All 120V and 240V thermostats include a 16 amp. output relay with ON/OFF switch. Types for 24V are with dry contact (voltage free).
Function: Room temperature is controlled by an NTC electronic sensor which is so accurate that it operates with a differential of only 0.7°F (0.4°C). A red LED illuminates on a call for heat, indicating the system is in operation.
Installation: The thermostats are designed for mounting in a single gang electrical box, for instance Temco no. 1504-LLE.
Setting: Available in either Fahrenheit or Celsius, the thermostats are very easy to set and offer a built in temperature limitation, should you desire to limit the adjustment.
Selection of thermostat type
The correct selection depends on the primary purpose of the radiant heating system. If room heating is the primary concern, then a thermostat with a built-in "air sensor" should be selected. If the primary purpose is to provide a comfortable background on a dry floor, ie:floor warming, then a thermostat with a floor sensor should be selected.
Room thermostat including limitation sensor
Type MTD (dual) thermostat includes an air sensor and a floor sensor, the floor sensor acts as a limitation sensor. When used for minimum limitation, adjustable 59-86°F (15-30°C), it ensures a minimum temperature of the floor regardless of the room temperature. Used for maximum limitation,77-122°F (25-50°C), the sensor protects the heating element, radiant floor, or wood floor, against excessive temperatures and its possible damage.
Setback modes
Thermostat with built-in setback program:
The MTW is pre-programmed with three different options for setback functions, fixed at 9°F (5°C). The MTW has a three position switch for easy selection of the desired program:
W   7-hour setback all weekdays and 6-hour day setback from Monday to Friday or
D    7-hour night setback 7 days a week or
0    No temperature setback.

The program in position W:
Saturday and Sunday
7 hours night setback 17 hours comfort temperature
Monday to Friday
7 hours night setback 3 hours comfort 6 hours day setback 8 hours comfort

Easy Programming:
MTW includes a microprocessor with preset program settings. The timer function is easily operated with the touch of a single button. Once set the setback periods automatically repeat themselves day after day.
